Content development

  • Researching trending topics based on client goals to inform content strategy and content calendars
  • Attending events and on-site location shoots to contribute to live social media coverage and capture footage
  • Creating social media copy and designing simple templates for Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter
  • Reviewing content created by freelancers for alignment with client needs, project objectives, and quality standards

Platform management

  • Scheduling content for distribution across social media channels using third-party tools and native platforms
  • Updating, managing, and testing website content using internal and third-party content management systems

The Catholic Church has an incredible story to tell. And our team tells it through digital marketing. An in-house agency for the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, our specialties include video production, photography, design, branding, website development, social media, analytics, paid media, and search marketing.

We’re looking for a Content Strategist to guide the content marketing strategy for the ministries, events, schools, and parishes we serve.

About your role

As a Content Strategist, you will lead and support our team in content planning, content development, platform management, advertising operations, data analysis, and partner communication. The ideal candidate has a marketing background focused on digital content, in either a strategy or creative role. You have a mind for big-picture thinking and strategy development but also thrive on creating smart and engaging content.

You’re passionate about your faith and intrigued by the chance to serve God through your career and craft. And you like to have fun—we sure do! On any weekday, you might find us playing an afternoon round of darts, having a spirited debate about theology, playing ping-pong on a local rooftop, or chowing down on Korean BBQ (a team lunch favorite). Faith centers our team and you’ll have the chance to attend daily mass at the chapel in our office.

The Content Strategist pursues creative solutions to marketing challenges based on data-driven audience insights. Your work will cover a diverse set of projects, clients, and topics. You pay close attention to detail, take initiative to complete assigned tasks, and aim to exceed expectations. Because all Archdiocesan employees represent the Catholic Church, they are expected to conduct themselves according to the goals and mission of the Church in performing their work. As a Content Strategist, you’ll be responsible for:

Advertising operations

  • Assisting team by creating ads and monitoring ad performance for campaigns through third-party and native advertising platforms

Data analysis

  • Developing weekly reporting based on third-party and native analytics platforms for internal analysis and client review
  • Identifying trends in content results to optimize content strategy and provide strategic recommendations to clients

Partner communication

  • Assisting team in communicating with freelance designers, copywriters, videographers, and photographers including project assignments and deadlines
  • Conducting parish outreach as needed for event promotion and content development

Faith formation

  • Knowledge of Archdiocesan principles, practices, and organization
  • Interest in and understanding of the Catholic Church’s teachings and role
  • Awareness of current issues and conditions affecting the Archdiocese of Los Angeles and the wider Catholic Church

Marketing experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Advertising, Communications, or related field
  • 2+ years  experience on a marketing team at an agency (preferred), brand, or nonprofit 
  • Fluency in social media platforms for both personal and marketing purposes
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, specifically Photoshop and InDesign
  • Basic photography skills and understanding of photography basics
  • Strong copywriting skills, both short- and long-form content

The minimum qualifications are any combination of education and experience likely to provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities, typically:

Communication skills

  • Excellent communication skills, including writing, proof-reading, and speaking
  • Strong interpersonal skills both in-person and by phone with high professionalism
  • Fantastic customer service ethic and high expectations for quality

Project management

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and work assignments with a variety of coworkers, freelancers, clients, and volunteers
